The Brief:

This detached property on a private road in Surrey is to benefit from a full garage and loft conversion, side and rear extensions, and internal remodelling to transform it into a substantial and spacious contemporary family home. 

The Architectural Design & Structural Engineering:

After working through design proposals with the property owners, BetterLivingSpace finalised an architectural and structural brief to demolish the existing unused garage and re-use the footprint to construct a double-storey side extension, housing a utility and home office downstairs, and two new double bedrooms and separate additional bathroom upstairs.


To the rear, a large single-storey extension provides additional footprint for an impressive open plan kitchen-living-dining area, with an independent reception room retained at the front. Internally, the former ground floor box room is to be removed with a full reconfiguration of the space to open up the hallway and allow the natural light to flood in on to the hall and staircase. Finally, the loft is to be converted and a large dormer placed on the rear to provide a spacious master bedroom suite. 

The Result:

We are delighted to report that planning permission has been granted for our designs. They will transform this property into a spacious and contemporary family home, set in an enviable location with views over local common land, and affording ample living and entertaining space.
