DOUBLE-STOREY
REAR EXTENSION

SURREY

The Brief:

The owners of this family home, centrally located in a semi-rural Surrey village, required more space to stay in their home and enjoy a comfortable living environment with their growing children. After being rejected in planning they approached BetterLivingSpace and we redesigned the project to provide the additional space they needed, with a design that was both more affordable and sailed through the planning permission process.

The Architectural Design & Structural Engineering:

The ground floor of the new extension provides a new open plan kitchen-diner with wrap-around living space. We maintained the existing front room as a separate reception, and converted the old kitchen into an independent utility room.  Upstairs, we added two new double bedrooms at the rear of the property, and then converted the front bedroom into a master bedroom with ensuite.

At the front of the property we obtained permission for a dropped kerb and installed a new access point and driveway, allowing off-road parking for two cars.

The Result:

The home has been transformed from 2.5 bedroom, into a spacious 4 double-bedroom property with 2 bathrooms. The open-plan living-dining area downstairs fits perfectly with family life, while a separate utility keeps noise and clutter to a minimum.

Externally, we have maintained a dual aspect facade and integrated the extension seamlessly through the attention to the brickwork and detailing.

The owners are extremely happy with both the design and aesthetics. The redesign provides all the additional space they require, at an affordable cost, enabling the family to enjoy their transformed home for years to come.
